County Line
County Line is actually past the Los Angeles/Ventura County Line but is still considered to be a part of Malibu. It is the western most boundary of our community and has beach homes, and a few condo complexes. There is a fun surf spot also called “County Line” and a restaurant across from it called Neptune’s Net that is as close to the wild, wild west of my Malibu childhood days as anything left in town. At one point in time they actually used to have cage fights in the parking lot, long before anyone had heard of the WWF or Mixed Martial Arts. It is not uncommon on the weekends to see the entire area filled with Harley Davidson Motorcycles, beer and fried sea food. Like all things Malibu, things at Neptune’s Net have mellowed a bit, and there are some lovely homes on the beaches in this area. Most of the homes are built on piles with the water rushing beneath them. Just north of this area is one of the most beautiful sections of California highway to be found anywhere outside of Big Sur. County Line is definitely “Country by the Sea”, but with Harley’s and just a touch of Jersey.
